Research Project – RISE

RISE – the Role and Influence of Salt in the Evolution of fold and thrust belts is the name of the project led by Dr. Dan Mircea Tămaș and financed by the Executive Unit for the Financing of Higher Education, Research, Development, and Innovation (UEFISCDI).

Aerial view of the Mânzălești salt diapir and Meledic plateau (for more info, see Tămaș et al. 2021).

The scope of this project is quantifying the deformation of rocksalt and its influence on the structural evolution of fold and thrust belts. To achieve our goals, we will focus on the Romanian Carpathians and Transylvanian Basin. For more information, project updates and achievements, visit the project webpage.
