On the footsteps of Ludovic Mrazec

In 2014 we set out on the footsteps of the famous geologist Ludovic Mrazec to try and understand the evolution of salt deformation in orogenic settings. His work was ground-breaking and far ahead of his time. If interested on the heritage of salt tectonics check out our paper: Understanding salt in orogenic settings: The evolution of ideas in the Romanian Carpathians http://doi.org/10.1306/0913171615517088

Geoscience research group focusing on structural interpretation using methods like analogue modelling, fieldwork, remote sensing (UAV based) coupled with creation and interpretation of virtual outcrops. The research group (led by Dr. Dan M. Tamas) is based in the Research Center for Integrated Geological Studies, Babes-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca, Romania and performs most of the work from the Structural Modelling Laboratory.
